GPz Project

A deal is done
While trying to find a bike that would fall into my price range I quickly came to the conclusion that I would be unable to afford a big enough capacity bike for the small amount of cash that was hiding in my pocket.
For many weeks of trawling through Ebay I came across a GPz1000RX in need of work for a Buy it Now price of £500. Yes a deal was made sight unseen. The chap I bought the bike from was helpful and I asked as many questions as possible about it's history. He got some of his friends to help and we pushed the bike into the back of the van, paid the money, got a receipt (as stated V5 was not back with owner yet) and headed off home.
I do still have a soft spot for the old GPz's having already restored my brothers old GPz550A to a high standard a few years previous and I believe this project will be lot's of fun.
So what is this site all about then?
For the benefit of others I am using this site to chronicle my timely endeavors of restoring this bike to a good road worthy condition. It will not be fully standard and will have subtle modifications which I hope will give it a more modern and individual look while hopefully not costing me an arm and a leg. All costs will be written down as I go and hope to keep the final costs below £1200 which is the maximum I want to spend.

31st-March-2012 (Anti-dive rebuild)
I have always been afraid of the Anti-dive units on the Gpz series of bikes. Don't ask me why but I always have been this way until up to a few days ago when I actually had a go at this job myself.
Smiling to myself I thought it would be a great idea to do an in depth rebuild of one of these units with lots of pictures. Yeah stupid me! I did not realize that it would take me ten times longer to put this information onto this website than it was to do the rebuild of the Anti-dive units. But lucky for you I have done it, it takes away all the mystery and proves that if I can do it then anyone can.
The page is a bit too long to put onto this front page like I normally do so here is a link directly to it. Timeline page 14 (Anti-dive unit rebuild).
*****Gpz1000RX's Visitors bikes*****
As I am getting increasing numbers of visitors who own the Gpz1000RX and have sent me pictures of their bikes I've decided that in the very near future that this site will host those pictures probably in the present pictures section once I'm given the consent from the bike owners.
If you wish your bike to be shown on this site then email a good picture or two along with a small explanation for example of your name and tell us something about your bike. All I ask is that obviously it's a Gpz1000RX (or Ninja1000R for across the pond), that you own or have owned it and give me consent to use your pictures for this site.
One such person is Ray who has recently managed to buy his C reg Gpz1000RX with just 900 miles on the clock. He has kindly sent in some pictures and I must say that the little monster called Jealousy came out to play ;-)
As you can see below he has managed to find himself a fine example of the RX in a great untouched condition. He admits that he has got a small problem with the choke at the moment which I am sure he will get fixed very soon if not already by the time I have this picture uploaded to this site.
